How to Generate A List of Leading Companies in an Industry
Method 1: For primarily US companies
- Accept the default Search Type, Company Name
- Under Keywords, enter the name of the most important company you can think of in your industry of interest.
- Click once on the "Jump" button to perform the search
- When the company loads, the Click for Content area fills with keywords, indicating what information we have available for that company
- Click once on the item labeled "Peers"
- In the lower left of that window, there is a white list box with financial terms. Scroll down to "Total Revenues", and select it.
- Click once on the "Compare" button
- In the spreadsheet view, click once on the gray column label with the year of interest. This will sort the companies by Total Revenues, in descending order.
- Click the "Copy All" button to copy these numbers to the Clipboard. You can now paste the spreadsheet directly into Excel (or any spreadsheet program), and you will have your list of leading companies!
Method 2: For Global Companies
- Accept the default Search Type, Company Name
- Under Keywords, enter the name of the most important company you can think of in your industry of interest.
- Click once on the "Jump" button to perform the search
- When the company loads, the Click for Content area fills with keywords, indicating what information we have available for that company
- Click once on the item labeled "Global Peers"
- In the lower left of that window, there is a white list box with financial terms. Select "Gross Sales".
- Click once on the "Compare" button
- In the spreadsheet view, click once on the gray column label with the year of interest. This will sort the companies by Total Revenues, in descending order.
- Click the "Copy All" button to copy these numbers to the Clipboard. You can now paste the spreadsheet directly into Excel (or any spreadsheet program), and you will have your list of leading companies!
